NOTE: It is the customers sole responsibility to ensure that the cellular service is compatible with the above cellular modem. The Wireless Haven is not responsible, and will not rake returns, if the customer cannot find a cellular data plan to connect their modem to.

NOTE: Sierra Wireless released a bulletin stating that the hardware SKU 1104629, for the EM9191 V1 hardware, was promised to support bands: LTE B43, 5GNR n7, n8, n12, n20, n25, n38, n40, and n48 but in fact could not without a new hardware revision. Updating the older hardware revision is stated to not be possible. The Wireless Haven cannot accept returns on these units for lack of band support promised by Sierra Wireless. If a new modem is considered, we recommend the Quectel RM520N-GL, as it is tested and supported for more bands and supports 5GNR SA 2x CA support on bands n25 and n41.

More Details

The Sierra Wireless EM9191 5G NR Sub-6 GHz Modem Module is an M.2 modem module that provides 5G NR (New Radio), LTE-Advanced, and GNSS connectivity for routers, notebooks, Ultrabooks, tablet computers, and M2M applications over many radio frequency bands.

Here is an excerpt from the Sierra Wireless Website:

Optimized 5G NR performance for broad coverage applications with a simple upgrade path to mmWave

The EM9191 module is part of the EM Series offering global 5G connectivity. Designed in an M.2 form factor, the EM9191 is compatible with Sierra Wireless’s EM9190 module for a simple upgrade path to mmWave, as well as the EM7690 module to help facilitate the migration and differentiation between 4G LTE and 5G.

This 5G NR Sub-6 GHz embedded module delivers up to 4.5Gbps downlink speed and 660Mbps uplink speed. With automatic 4G and 3G fallback networks and integrated GNSS receiver (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo satellite systems supported), the EM9191 is applicable to a wide range of IoT applications such as industrial routers, home gateways, industrial and consumer laptops, rugged tablet PCs, video surveillance and digital signage.

NOTE:  This is a M.2 form card and requires MHF4 Pigtails.   In order to use this card in a cellular hotspot router, or with a computer system, with a Mini PCI-E slot, a mPCIe to M.2 Adapter must be used. Please know that not all M.2 slots or adapters will work with the Sierra EM919x series modems and routers. Our USB3 modem enclosure adapter does.
The EM919x modems only work with the latest firmware versions of the WG3526/NEXP1GO or the WG1608 Routers.
The Wireless Haven recommends that you ensure your device or adapter works with the Sierra EM919x series modems before making a purchase.

NOTE:  Caution should be exercised when updating the modem firmware.  It is recommended to use a Linux machine for the updates, though Windows firmware update files are regularly available.  We will not accept return of a modem that has been bricked or otherwise altered or damaged.

We offer the firmware update as an add-on for most Sierra Wireless Modems, this is available on this product page as an add on option.

IMPORTANT:  Exercise extreme caution while installing MHF4 connectors to the modem antenna ports.  The ports are delicate and easily damaged.  Assure that the MHF4 connector is perfectly centered, level and aligned with the modem port.  The MFH4 connector will then snap into place using minimum pressure.  Do not apply excessive force.  A damaged modem connector port is not covered under warranty. If you do accidentally damage a modem port, we offer a repair service: Modem Antenna Port Replacement Service

IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended to invest in a quality power strip surge protector (i.e., APC, Belkin,…) to use behind a router and/or electronic equipment.  This will help protect against Transients (momentary spikes/surges in voltage or current) that can be detrimental to expensive equipment.  Transient damage to modems are not covered under warranty.  Protect your equipment.
