More Details

Quectel EC25-AF is one modem in a series of LTE category 4 modules adopting standard PCI Express® Mini Card form factor (Mini PCI-E). It is optimized specially for M2M and IoT applications, and delivers 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink data rates.

EC25 Mini PCI-E is available in 11 variants to assure backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks-for remote area applications lacking usable 4G or 3G coverage.

These modems are the EC25-AF North American version with the newest firmware which includes the new T-Mobile Band 71 and AT&T’s FirstNet Band 14.

EC25 Mini PCI-E supports Qualcomm® IZat™ location technology Gen8C Lite (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou/Compass, Galileo and QZSS). The integrated GNSS greatly simplifies product design, and provides quicker, more accurate and more dependable positioning.

A rich set of Internet protocols, industry-standard interfaces and abundant functionalities (USB serial drivers for Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Linux, Android/eCall*) extend the applicability of the module to a wide range of M2M applications such as industrial router, industrial PDA, rugged tablet PC, video surveillance and digital signage.

1 review for Wireless Internet Modem – Category 4 – Quectel EC25-AF

This is my first LTE modem that wasn’t packaged into a convenient hotspot (replaced a Netgear M1). I was skeptical of the performance downgrading from a CAT12 in my Netgear to this CAT4. We live 2 miles from the nearest tower and in a very dense wooded area. I had added 2 LTEFix yagis on the roof feeding my M1 through 25ft LMR400 cables and was still getting -114dB strength and -15-20 quality. Oddly, these number didn’t seem to change much between bands. I bought this unit primarily for access to band 71 in hopes of better tree penetration, the only alternative is an 80ft tower to clear the trees. Using the Wifix WG3526-P as the host for this card and making no changes to the antennas my quality jumped to -80dB and quality is in the single digits. Our connection was still slow, but finally reliable. After locking this Quectel EC25-AF to band 71 (must use command line, it’s not in the GUI), our speed has increased from 2mbps/.15mbps to 24mbps/18mbps! After 4 months and hundreds of dollars in equipment we finally have a usuable connection for all our devices. Setup took a little research, but if you are reasonably savvy with technology (or at least googling) you’ll be fine.
