USB3.0 to M.2 (NGFF) 5G Modem Adapter with Side Nano SIM Card Slot
This USB3.0 to M.2 adapter is designed to covert a M.2 (NGFF) WWAN 3G/4G/5G Key B modem card to use with a USB3.0 slot. Works with Raspberry Pi.
This USB3.0 to M.2 (NGFF) 5G Modem Adapter with Side Nano SIM Card Slot uses a “NANO” SIM Card, and a convenient “Click / Click” style slot. The SIM card slot is positioned perpendicular to the adapter board, on the top of the card.
It is useful for attaching a 5G NGFF M.2 key B form factor (“3052”) cellular modem card (…like the Quectel RM5xxQ series 5G Modems) directly to a PC.
The Screw Pillar used for holding down your modem card is not removable to change between 3042 (4G) and 3052 (5G) form modem modules.
We use these adapters to flash firmware onto M.2 NGFF Key B 5G cellular modem modules.
- You should not have to force the SIM card into the adapter. A SIM card that is too tight, when installed in the SIM slot, can rise and cause a misalignment between the slot pins and SIM card. All tits/nubs on the side of the SIM card should be sanded smooth. This is easily done with a laying a nail file/emery board/piece of sand paper flat on table top, and working the SIM card evenly across until smooth.
- This USB adapter will not work with the mini PCI-E modem cards (i.e., Sierra Wireless MC series cards and Quectel EC/EP series cards). The USB to mini PCI-E adapter must be used.
- In order for a Windows based PC to recognize most modem cards, regardless of how it is being attached, the modems Windows drivers must first be installed on the Windows device. This adapter has NOT been tested with the new Sierra Wireless 5G Modems, nor Telit 5G modem cards. Refer to our LTE FIX IT Series tutorial for driver installation tutorials.
